Animal Dermatology South was the first animal hospital in the world to install Xoran's VetCAT Pet-friendly CT scanner. This advanced technology allows our team to asses the nasal cavity, ears, and mouth of your pet in a minimally invasive manner. General anesthesia is seldom necessary as sedation is often adequate due in part to the VetCAT's efficiency. We utilize the VetCAT CT Scanner in conjunction with 4K video otoscopy affording patients an appropriate assessment of their ears.
Animal Dermatology South was the first animal hospital in the country to bring the Storz 4K imaging system to it's patients. Video otoscopy provides a magnified image of the ear canal and surrounding structures in addition to providing a platform for thorough ear cleansing, biopsy, and foreign body removal as well as laser surgery. We also perform rhinoscopy and nasal biopsies.
Intradermal allergy testing is the "gold standard" in allergy testing which is seldom available in an animal hospital. We provide veterinary dermatologist services along with custom formulation of allergen specific immunotherapy/allergy vaccine for your allergic pet. Immunotherapy is the only treatment with the potential to modify allergic disease. This allergy test does NOT test for food allergies. A food trial is the "gold standard" for diagnosing food allergy.
Animal Dermatology South has a diverse array of cryosurgery equipment which uses liquid nitrogen (the best cryogen in our opinion) to freeze masses without the need for sutures and our veterinary skin and ear specialist has over twenty years of experience. This is ideal for patients with masses on the skin, around the eyes, and on or in ears. Cryosurgical treatment for masses can often be performed in the animal hospital without sedation or anesthesia and does not require sutures.
The use of CO2 lasers in surgery provides patients with the option of experiencing less inflammation, swelling, pain, and bleeding that is often seen with traditional surgical techniques. Advanced veterinary dermatologist services requires advanced equipment.

The Diode laser allows The Animal Dermatology South Team to perform surgery in confined spaces such as the deeper portions of the ear canal that were previously inaccessible.
Therapy laser treatments provide a variety of benefits to patients including pain control, and improved wound healing. Low level laser light therapy (Class IV laser) is used to improve chronic and acute pain, improve/speed wound healing, and to reduce swelling and inflammation.
When it comes to procedures such as skin biopsies, the results are only as good as the sample that is collected. The Animal Dermatology South team has the training and expertise to make those critical choices and get the best results possible.
